United Way of Saginaw County - VITA Program - Necessary Documents

Failure to bring all required documentation with you to your appointment will delay your assistance. We require below documents:

A list of necessary documents to bring to your income tax preparation appointment can also be found at www.unitedwaysaginaw.org/VITA.

  • Social Security Cards for all household members or ITIN
  • Picture ID
  • Birth dates for all dependents
  • All Household income for the last 90 days
  • W2's for wages
  • Income Statement from the Department of Human Services
  • Consumer Energy Bill
  • Property Tax Bill or Proof of Rent Paid
  • Landlord's name & address
  • 1099's for interest or other payments received
  • 1099 R pension income if retired
  • SSA 1099 for social security income
  • Annual SSI statement
  • Last year's tax return
  • Daycare provider's tax ID number
  • Bank routing number and account numbers for direct deposit
  • Divorce/alimony documents

Free tax preparation is available to Saginaw County residents who cannot afford to pay to have their taxes prepared for them thanks to the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program and amazing community volunteers. This program aims to help families avoid high tax prep fees, access all credits they are eligible for and connect families to services and programs that will help them increase their financial stability.
